Saturday

Three Acres and a Cow

7 pm

Three Acres And A Cow is a show that connects the Norman Conquest and Peasants’ Revolt with climate change and the housing crisis via the Enclosures, English Civil War and Industrial Revolution, drawing a compelling narrative through the people’s history of England in folk song, story and poem. Come and share in these tales as they have been shared for generations.

2.30 pm

Lecoq-trained physical performer and Fool Saskia Solomons morphs into myriad inner personalities as they wrestle with the ickiest of sticky icks: money. Daring to dive headfirst into the belly of the elephant-in-the-room, this semi-improvised solo is a ridiculous and disarmingly honest exploration of belonging, class and inequality by a closet rich kid.

This is a work-in-progress sharing of Saskia’s brand new solo show. There’ll be a chance for discussion and feedback, so you’ll be a vital part of its development before it heads to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

SUNDAY

Leeds Refugee PlayBack

2 pm

Leeds Refugee Playback Company in collaboration with Threadbear Theatre.

Playback theatre is a form of improvised storytelling based on real life stories. The performers use only themselves, the chairs they sit on and coloured cloths. They are accompanied by a musician, who also improvises. The entire presentation is led by the Conductor who elicits stories from the audience. Audience participation is key!

What to Expect

Music

workshops

Childrens area

Bring your dancing shoes for DJ sets on Saturday and your foot stomping, booty-shaking rhythm for live music from Kontiki to round off the whole weekend on Sunday night. And if you are feeling extra creative yourself with a Live Cabaret on the Sunday!

Morning yoga, breathwork and movement sessions will invite you to return to an inward connection with yourself, making space to connect with others and offering a moment to press that reset button on life. Evening saunas and round the fire circle will be places to come together, play music and sweat away our troubles.

Children of all sizes (including adult ones!) will be delighted by a whole host of activities from arts and crafts and pizza making, to dressing up and treasure hunt.

extras...

As a participant in this event we will ask you to join our community by offering 2 hours work with other volunteers during your stay, helping with the food and to maintain the site.

Fancy being a member of our crew? We would love your help, plus you get a weekend ticket for free!

Discussion and Connection:

Our World Cafe will offer a supportive and collaborative open space allowing us all to share reflections and ideas about the topics brought up in performance, workshops, and installations.

We hope this will lead to connections and inspiration for action around social justice aswell as refugee and land rights.

This festival will be set on the beautiful land of Fell Edge Farm. With amazing views of the Wharfe valley and moors behind, brimming with ancient history, this is the ideal place to walk, talk, relax and renew your energies.

Spend time pondering at the art installations throughout the festival site, finding treasure at the clothes swap or local gift stalls.
